DJames is an open format club and mixtape DJ based in London. When he’s not travelling around Europe, running events across the UK, or supporting some of the world’s biggest artists, you’ll find him working hard in the studio on new music or custom edits for his sets.
Over the years, DJames has developed a unique style and sound, incorporating elements of Hip Hop, Dancehall, Afrobeats, House and many other genres. The standout nature of his club sets and mixtapes led to him being chosen to DJ on tours for the likes of Drake, The Weeknd, The Game & Sean Kingston. The list isn’t limited to Hip Hop and Dancehall artists though. His versatility has seen DJames work with acts such as Chase & Status, Pendulum, Jess Glynne, Shadow Child and Feeder. He was also recruited by Ministry Of Sound to be a tour DJ for their Addicted To Bass and Unitrash brands.
DJames was also handpicked to be a curator for Mixcloud after he amassed hundreds of thousands of plays on their platform, regularly topping the charts with his creative mixes. He was invited to their headquarters in London to record a live mix, showcasing his original edits and technical ability.
As well as being a regular guest on Capital XTRA and BBC Radio 1Xtra, DJames has recently had guest mixes featured on radio stations in France, Italy, Belgium, Australia, USA and across the Caribbean. He also worked as a broadcast assistant and producer upon joining the Reggae Recipe on Capital XTRA, working closely with UK radio legend Ras Kwame.
In 2015, DJames set up Crates By DJames, a mailing list for DJs to receive some of his custom edits and remixes directly. The list has since gathered thousands of subscribers worldwide, with many high profile names such as Major Lazer, Radio 1’s Charlie Sloth, legendary DJs Jazzy Jeff and Skratch Bastid, plus World champions ESKEI83 and DJ Puffy supporting his work.
Having made regular contributions to their music library, podcast and blog in the past, DJames was recently asked to join the DJcity team. He is now a music editor for the world’s largest record pool, specialising in Dancehall, Reggae and Soca music. This has expanded his network to hundreds of thousands of DJs globally.
